Irene is a Colombian transdisciplinary artist, performer, and vocal researcher based in Brazil, whose practice moves across sound, performance, voice and embodied perception. Working internationally, with Colombia remaining a central territory of research, collaboration and artistic production, she creates works at the edges of what can be heard, sensed, and expressed through the voice as a body.

Río Pance

Her practice investigates the voice as a material and relational medium: not only as language or music, but as vibration, gesture, texture, spatial force and presence. She works with extended vocal practices, sound, live cinema, installation, performance, somatic practices and collective experimentation to explore liminal territories between the audible and inaudible, human and non-human, individual and collective.

A recurring attention in her research is how bodies produce, perceive, and relate to sound beyond conventional systems of listening. She collaborates with artists, Deaf communities, researchers and diverse collectives, developing processes that question inherited categories of voice, musicality, ability and representation. These encounters often become long-form laboratories in which voice is approached through vibration, breath, movement, resonance, silence and embodied listening.

Irene creates sensory situations that invite audiences to encounter voice and sound through more than hearing. Her practice moves between experimental music, somatic practice, community-based creation and contemporary forms of ritual, using the voice as a site of transformation, connection and collective imagination.

Her work has emerged through collaborations and presentations across Latin America, Europe, and Africa, while maintaining a sustained dialogue with artistic communities and independent research practices in Colombia and Brazil.
