Una estación fisiomágica is a live cinema, performance, and sound-based work that imagines an impossible encounter between two pioneers of moving images: physiologist and photographer Étienne-Jules Marey and illusionist and filmmaker Georges Méliès.

Drawing on Marey’s early chronophotographic studies of animal movement and Méliès’s visual and magical universe, the work explores the intersection of image, body, and sound. A choir of Deaf artists performs the soundtrack live, transforming early cinema through embodied voice, vibration, movement, and gesture. The work challenges the notion of silence as the absence of voice, opening other ways of experiencing and producing sound.

As Choral Director, I led a year-long creative laboratory exploring voice beyond conventional ideas of pitch, beauty, and lyricism. Through embodied listening, breath, vibration, movement, and gesture, we developed a collective vocal language that became a live score for the film. This process created a sensory poetics that questions conventional ideas of voice and listening, while bringing into focus the political tensions of language and the relationship between humans and animals.
